The Short of It All

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Dades Valley

 

From your hotel in Marrakech, we will head to Dades Gorges via the Tizi-n-Tischka in the high Atlas Mountains which ie 2260m high (the highest one in North Africa) in order to get to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou where numerous American movies have been shot, such as Lawrence of Ariabia, Game of Thrones, Prince of Persia…
After lunch we carry on to Ouarzazate, the Hollywood of Morocco, for a visit of the Tourirt Kasbah and a look at the cinema studios. Then we drive to Skoura and the Rose Valley of Kelaat Mgouna, before we get to Boumalne du Dades.

 

Day 2: Dades Valley – Merzuoga via Todra Gorge

 

After breakfast we will start our second date to Merzourga via Todra Gorge, the best location of rock climbing in North Africa, and also where the Mission Impossible Movie (well a part of it!) was filmed. We will pass oasis, palmeries and black hamadahs on the way to the largest dune in North Africa, with dunes that rise more than 200m. We will spend then night on the edge of the desert.

 

Day 3: Merzouga


Today you get to explore Merzouga and drive all the way around the Erg Chebbi with a visit of an old village that was damaged recently with a huge flood, and then we stop at a nomadic Berber family. After a taste of some Berber pizza, a traditional Moroccan food, we continue to whence we started from, to climb unto your sturdy transportation to wander into the desert to enjoy the lovely sunset and spend the night deep among the dunes of the Sahara.

 

Day 4: Merzouga – Ouarzazate


Rise with the call of the sunrise, enjoy a spectacular show put on for you as the sun heats up the Sahara. Get back on your camel for a ride back to your hotel. After a shower and breakfast, we’re off to Ouarzazate. We will pass through Alnif, Tazarine (known for planting henna) before we get to Draa Valley the longest one in Morocco, approximately 1200km long and forested in palm trees. We will spend the night in Ouarzazate.

 

Day 5: Ouarzazate – Marrakech


This morning, we leave the South of Morocco and head back to Imperial City Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains. The tour ends here.
