3 Day Casablanca to Chefchaouen

Chefchaouen is a village of the Rif, its charm comes from its narrow streets, its tiled roves, its blue colors, and its wrought-iron windows. Chefchaouen is Morocco’s “Blue Pearl”, because its residents love to paint their homes in blue. There are tales as to why they chose this colour, but it does bring a distinctive charm, and laid back vibe of peace and calm.

Day 1 : Casablanca – Rabat

Tower Hassan - Rabat, Morocco

We will pick you up from the arranged meeting point, where we will first visit Casablanca.  We will first visit the Hassan II Mosque, the 7th largest mosque in the world. This mosque can accommodate up to 105,000 people, and has a retractable roof to cope with the heat of summer.  Taking 7 years and 10,000 craftsmen, this architectural wonder is built on the Atlantic ocean, and is described as “the throne of Allah was built on water”.

Next is the Boulevard de la Corniche, where you can take some pictures with the Atlantic Ocean as your back drop.  On we go to now visit the Medina of the city. This Medina dates back before the French rule, and will give you a good idea of what it was like and  how locals have lived for the past several hundred years as you pass by homes in the narrow alleyways.

We then will have some lunch in a nearby restaurant, before we drive by Rick’s café so you can see the café that was made famous.

We leave Casablanca and travel to Rabat. You will take a tour of the city that includes the Hassan Tower, and the neighbouring Mausoleum of Kings. Next the lovely Kasbah Oudayas, The Oudaya Kasbah is a haven of tranquility, with its flower-filled little streets, Andalusian garden, and Moorish café. Referred to also as Kasbah of the Udayas, the Oudaya Kasbah is one of the most unique sites in Morocco and is the first milestone of the city of Rabat. It’s located at the mouth of the Bou Regreg River, opposite the city of Salé, in Rabat, Morocco. UNESCO recognized the significance of the Oudaya Kasbah and added it to the World Heritage Tentative List in 2006. Dinner and overnight in Rabat.

Day 2 : Rabat – Asilah – Tangier – Tetouan – Chefchaouen

After breakfast, we travel to the little seaside town of Asilah. We will stop first to visit the Grotto of Hercules, a natural formation cut by the oceans. Then we go on to a scenic stop where you can see the Straits of Gibraltar. We carry on to Tangiers, where you can have some seafood for lunch perhaps. Then you can take a little walk along the Boulevard, before we leave to head into the Rif mountains. We will arrive in time to see the sunset on this lovely blue washed city.  Dinner and overnight in Chefchaouen.
